One such application is GIF Optimizer. As the name clearly states, this Windows program was specially designed for optimizing GIF images, no matter their size or resolution. After installing the application, the first thing to do is to add the desired GIF file into the program's interface. Unfortunately, GIF Optimizer cannot optimize several image files at the same time, in a batch.

After adding the GIF image, one can check the optimization settings and choose the desired ones. After completing this step, the optimization process is one click away and can be triggered by clicking on the Optimize button. After the process is complete, GIF Optimizer will display the initial and the new file size in bytes, the number of colors for both images and the amount of space saved in percent. By looking at this information, the user knows if the optimization process really made the GIF image size smaller. At the end, one can save the optimized GIF image over the existing one or as a new file.
